I interned the past two summers at HRL and know some people there who are
working on autonomous UAVs and also network science related things (e.g.,
searching through Twitter, etc.). You may need to be a US citizen, but in
any case it might be worth checking out if you're interested in those
areas. I think they were also doing some user studies with
brain-computer-interfaces the last summer I was there (Mathieu, you might
be interested).

HRL Labs, a premier corporate research institution (R & D LLC owned
by General Motors and The Boeing Company), will have all 4 of their
executive Lab Directors on campus Wednesday, February 12th, noon to
2pm in ESB 2001. The purpose of this meeting is to talk about
career/intern opportunities at the lab and learn about their cutting
edge research. Their facility is located in the mountains above
Malibu, rivaling UCSB for aesthetics and beauty of location. HRL is a
world-class research institution with concentration in the areas of:
Ultra-High-Performance Integrated Circuits and Components,
Architected 2D and 3D Materials, Robust Computing and Communications
and Automated Knowledge Extraction.
This event is primarily targeting Graduate Students, but undergrads
are welcome as well.
