Subject: Snap Research: Call for Research Scientists, Research Engineers, interns, and collaborators!
Dear friends and colleagues,
I wanted to let you know that, after more than eleven very enjoyable and productive years, I have left Adobe Research to take up a new challenge: I will be leading Snap Research. For me, it’s an amazing opportunity to invent the next generation of creative tools, supporting Snap Inc.’s mission to “empower people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.”
We will be carrying out research in computational photography, including augmented and virtual reality, as well as new hardware for imaging and capture; 2D and 3D computer graphics; computer vision; audio; machine learning; natural-language processing; human-computer interaction; information visualization; and more. Our research is intended to push the boundaries of what is technically possible in all of these domains, thereby allowing the design of ever more compelling products.
To this end, I’ll be hiring Research Scientists and Research Engineers in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York City, Toronto, and quite possibly many other places around the world as well. If you’re interested in joining, please apply through the links below.

Research Engineers: https://boards.greenhouse.io/snapchat/jobs/596845#.WKJ8_BiZPBI
(These particular links are for San Francisco, but feel free to use them to apply for jobs anywhere in the world until we get other locations set up.)
We’re also very much looking for great interns this summer! If you’re interested in an internship or know someone who is, please email me.
I expect the lab to have a profound impact—both internally, for the company and its products; and externally, for the research community at large. Moreover, in the same tradition I established at Adobe, we will be undertaking open collaborations with colleagues, both in academia and other companies, as well as publishing papers in academic conferences like SIGGRAPH, CVPR, NIPS, and UIST. As such, if you have ideas for collaborations with Snap Research, please let me know!
