Smartphone+Smartwatch Data Available
An: announcements at ubicomp.org

Dear Colleagues,

   Today we're launching Phase 1 of the CrowdSignals.io experiment in
crowdfunded data collection on Indiegogo: https://igg.me/at/crowdsignals

   We're collecting 100+ GB (over 20K hours!) of smartphone and smartwatch
data from 30+ volunteers for 30 days. We're confident that we can create an
excellent dataset: the real experiment is in crowdfunding and community.
We're asking for help from the community to generate funds that will pay
volunteers and administrative staff. In return, we'll share the collected
data, sample code, and educational materials (e.g., slides, documents, and
videos for getting students started).

More about the campaign:
* Cost is $2 per academic researcher!
* Executed by AlgoSnap, a bootstrapped, Seattle-based start-up
* Advised by:
  - Andrew Campbell (Dartmouth)
  - Deborah Estrin (Cornell)
  - Henry Tirri (Aalto U)
  - Jason Hong (CMU)
* 100+ GB of sensor, social, system, and interaction data
* Interval-style and EMA-style ground truth labels

   CrowdSignals.io was first introduced and discussed in the HASCA workshop
at Ubicomp'14. Feedback from the Ubicomp community since that time has been
extraordinarily helpful. As such, we want to offer something special back.
