Subject: Four Eyes Lab & NVC

Dear Professor Turk,

My name is Jorge a senior at UCSB majoring in Econ-Math. I've read your website and discovered your past participation in the NVC. This year I'm putting a team together to compete in the New Venture Competition. Our idea is a smart home platform that establishes communication with different smart sensors. Our goal is to enhance the human interaction of the smart platform with the current data sensors. I'm searching for someone who can develop a mobile App that receives real time data from sensors. I was wondering if you would recommend a student from the Four Eyes lab who might be interested in participating in the NVC? Our current team is:

· Christina Borgese, is Director of Engineering and Development for PreProcess, Inc. Christina has a B.S. from UCSB in Chemical Engineering and a certificate in Technology Management. In our project, she will be our mentor.

· Miguel Lastras, PhD candidate at UCSB in Electrical and Computer Engineering Department. His research interests include the architectural aspects of low-power crossbar-based memristive memories and its 3D monolithic integration with standard CMOS processes. He is also interested in the general-purpose computing on graphics processing units (GPGPU) for scientific applications. In our project, he will establish the network for our sensors to communicate.

· Brett David Carpenter: Is a graduate student in the Masters of Technology Management Program and is interested in helping with our project's market research.

If you have any questions please contact me at <tel:805-617-5055> 805-617-5055 or email me at <mailto:jrcc.jorge at gmail.com> jrcc.jorge at gmail.com. I would be happy to meet with you and share with you more or I'm willing to listen to any ideas you might have.

Sincerely,

Jorge
