[4eyes] Interested in a trip to Finland in September?

I have funding for a trip to Finland in early-to-mid September, to visit
colleagues in two cities - Tampere and Oulu - to discuss possible research
and funding collaboration. The general theme of the research is in using
vision/AR/VR/HCI technologies in learning, though we're open to other
collaborations as well.

 

The UCSB participants at this point are myself, John Donovan, and David
Sinosa (a graduate student in Education). Danielle Harlow from Education is
involved, but is unable to make the trip.

 

This is somewhat last-minute and out-of-the-blue for some of you, but.. If
you would be interested in joining us on this trip, please contact me ASAP,
as we have funding for more participants. You'd have to be at least
generally interested in the topic and available September 7-16 (or at least
most of that). Undergraduates and graduate students are welcome.

 

The groups we will visit are:

 

-       TAUCHI in Tampere (http://www.uta.fi/sis/tauchi/index.html), where
Ismo and Julia are from

-       Center for Machine Vision Research (http://www.cse.oulu.fi/CMV) in
Oulu (we had visitors from there 2-3 summers ago)

 

There may also be time to tour Helsinki.
