Hi everyone,
I am writing to let you know that I have my
qualifying exam Tomorrow (Sep. 17th). The
details are below:
Time and location: Sep.17th 9 am - ECE conference room (HFH, room 4164)
Title: Unified training of neural networks paired with specialized functions for computer graphics and vision
Abstract:
There are many problems in computer graphics and
vision that could be addressed using machine learning.
Unfortunately, because of the complexity of some
problems, training a model can be extremely difficult.
On the other hand, for some applications researchers
have come up with good approximations to some components
of the problem. However, the entire process still
contains complicated components that cannot be
explicitly modelled and are usually set through heuristics
rather than with learning methods.
In this thesis, we propose to combine the
known approximations with neural networks for the
complicated components to model the whole process. We train
the neural networks in combination with the known
approximations to achieve the optimal solution. We demonstrate
how this idea can be applied to Monte Carlo denoising to
produce high-quality results and discuss future work in
non-blind deconvolution.
Everyone's welcome to attend!
Thanks,
Nima?
