Subject: Hadoop Image Processing Tool

Hi Professor Turk,

For the thesis I wrote for my undergraduate degree I worked with a few peers
to create an image processing library for the distributed framework, Hadoop.
I'm not sure if you or any students or colleagues you know of use Hadoop,
but if they do then they might be interested in taking a look at the open
source library we've written and some of the experiments we've run to
support our work. I had seen UCSB registered to use the Hadoop Cluster that
I ran the experiments on, but it could be any dept (i.e. not the CS dept)
from UCSB who is using it. The project, called HIPI, can be found at
http://hipi.cs.virginia.edu/

Thanks, and looking forward to meeting you in September

Chris Sweeney
