I'm not sure if you or any students or colleagues you know of use Hadoop, but if they do then they might be interested in taking a look at the open source library we've written and some of the experiments we've run to support our work. I had seen UCSB registered to use the Hadoop Cluster that I ran the experiments on, but it could be any dept (i.e. not the CS dept) from UCSB who is using it.
