Marco Zuliani is giving the seminar
"RANSAC: Estimating Parameters in Presence of Outliers"
ABSTRACT
In this talk I will introduce the problem of estimating the parameters
of a model using a set of measurements corrupted by outilers. After
presenting the limits of traditional least square approaches, I will
introduce RANSAC, an estimation framework that allows to reliably
estimate the parameters of a known model when more than 50% of the
measurements are outliers. The theoretical discussion will be
supported by some practical examples which utilize the RANSAC toolbox
that I developed for Matlab. I will conclude the talk mentioning some
open problems of potential interest to the research community.
