You may want to forward this email about Microsoft software to CS
students (undgrad and grad).

Your department's DreamSpark Premium account gives your students access
to all of the latest Microsoft developer tools, operating systems,
servers, and utility programs. Per the End-User License Agreement, this
software is available to students who are enrolled in STEM-D courses.
Depending on how your admin has set up your account, your students could
likely lose the ability to download software for summer projects and
self-learning once the semester ends. I would encourage you to reach
out to your students either directly or through your administrator and
suggest that they download any of the software titles they will want to
use over the summer now, before their account gets suspended. The
DreamSpark license is a perpetual, non-commercial use license so they
are allowed to use the software legally after school ends and even after
they graduate as long as it is not for commercial purposes. Visual
Studio 2013 Update 2 now supports the universal project type that allows
a developer to create both Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 8.1 mobile apps
at one time. Visual Studio 2013 and Update 2 is currently available on
DreamSpark. We'd love for them to try it out. If you have any
questions about DreamSpark or app development, please feel free to
contact me.
