</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">The main objective of these meetings should be that we are able to cover</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">technical material in enough depth to meet the needs of specific subsets of <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">our joint community, while at the same time being of enough general interest <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">to warrant attendance by everyone in both labs. That would be the best use <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">of our joint meetings.<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">To this end, we identified two main research areas that should be represented</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">at these joint meetings:</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><b>Research Area 1:</b> Computer Vision, Computer Graphics, Machine Learning</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><b>Research Area 2:</b> AR/VR, HCI, RecSys, Social Computing, Visualization</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Our current plan is to alternate the presentations every other week between these</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">two research areas. So, for example, the first week will be a presentation by <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">a student in Research Area 1, then the following week someone from Research <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">Area 2, and so on.<br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">The hope is that students in one area would still find the presentations from the other <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">area interesting/relevant/informative, even though they may not be quite working in this <br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">space. So let's try this to see how it goes.</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif"><br></div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">To get started, we need to start populating a rotation schedule of students who</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">would present at each joint meeting. This presentation could be on your current</div><div class="gmail_default" style="font-family:arial,helvetica,sans-serif">research project,
