The application consists of a short abstract for your 5-minute research presentation (the usage of slides is optional).

We believe this will benefit you in a number of ways:

- Practice in delivering an engaging, understandable, and impactful research pitch to a diverse technical audience
- Development of professional presentation skills
- Detailed feedback on your research pitch from peers and faculty
- More visibility within the department, possibly leading to opportunities for intra-departmental collaboration
- Free food and prizes! Think of this as a slightly more technical CS coffee hour!

The colloquium will be held Friday, February 27, 2015, 3:00-5:00pm in HFH 1132.

CS graduate students from all research areas are encouraged to participate! Note that, for time-related constraints, we will be able to accept a maximum of 20 speakers. If more than 20 applications are submitted, speakers will be selected based on the quality of their abstract and the diversity of research fields being represented.

Abstracts may be submitted at:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1qIcSK7VvhHLLUvkbR_QCT6Xh7WXByvlKaIkBKqhy9eY/viewform

DEADLINE FOR ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS: FEBRUARY 13, 2015

Please visit:

http://ucsb-cs-student-research-colloquium.github.io/

for more information such as important dates and the program for the colloquium.

We hope to have department-wide representation and encourage everyone to participate! This is your chance to share your research with the rest of the department, and to find out what exactly is going on outside that narrow corner of the world that is your research lab :) We hope that this will be a valuable experience for speakers and audience alike!

Sincerely,
The CS Student Research Colloquium Committee
_______________________________________________
grads maillist - grads@lists.cs.ucsb.edu
https://lists.cs.ucsb.edu/mailman/listinfo/grads
