I wanted to warn you that I encountered a problem with using my firewire
cameras in opencv after upgrading to ubuntu 8.10.  I suggest that you
probably don't upgrade for a while especially if you're using 8.04.  The
problem seems to be a difference in library requirements, opencv expects
libdc1394-13 in order to compile with support for dc1394 &amp; raw1394, the
newest version of ubuntu installs libdc1394-22 and the 8.10 opencv distro
seems to force the install of that file, apparently the culprit is
ffmpeg.... sigh....  here's more info:
