For the paper reading on Friday I'm planning on covering "Selectively
Metropolised Monte Carlo light transport simulation" from Benedikt Bitterli.

The paper proposes a method to combine Metropolis-based rendering
algorithms with regular path tracing in a way that minimizes traditional
Metropolis weaknesses (non-uniform noise, inefficiency on simple transport)
by only using it locally in areas of the image with complex transport-
while remaining fast and unbiased. This involves tweaking the Metropolis
target distribution, some clever use of MIS weights, and leveraging recent
outlier detection work.
