[4eyes] Visiting UCSB in May (20th - 23rd)

Ilab and Mirage Lab students, visitors, etc.,

Ahmed Farooq from the University of Tampere TAUCHI Group (who knows/works
with our friends Ismo Rakkolainen and Roope Raisamo) is visiting through
Thursday. He’ll come to the group meeting on Tuesday, but would also like to
meet with some of you. His interests are in multimodal interaction,
especially haptics and intelligent haptic mediation.

Hi Prof. Turk,

Thanks for the confirmation, see you tomorrow.

I just arrived at SB and have now settled into the hotel. Planning for
tomorrow, it would be great to meet as many people related to my research.
Yes, my interests are Multimodal Interaction with focus on haptics and
Intelligent Haptic Mediation. Ideally it would be nice to meet Prof.
Höllerer as well. and may be some of your students. 

According to Ismo, I should meet all the students and try to sit in your
group's weekly lab meeting, as well as the joint group meeting with Prof.
Pradeep Sen's group. Of course, that all is the ideal case, with emphasis on
meeting schedules and availability. Lets see tomorrow what may be possible.

Okay, I’ll see you at 3:30pm tomorrow in 2104 HFH. (The chair’s office is in

Let’s see if I can get started on finding suitable people for you to talk
with. Your main interests are in haptic and multimodal interaction, right?
Are there any specific people you’d like to meet with besides Yon Visell and
me? I can start asking some folks.

Thank you for the help. At the moment I only have a meeting arranged with
Asst. Prof. Visell. I was hoping that perhaps we can discuss other possible
meetings while I am at UCSB. Do you have any suggestions?

I don't think that I would be needing a desk, but thank you for the offer.

Welcome to Santa Barbara! I’m available tomorrow afternoon – would you be
available to get together at 3:30pm or 4:00pm? If not, we can try for

Hope you are well. I don't know if you remember, but I work with Prof. Roope
Raisamo at Tampere University on Multimodal Interaction, specifically
haptics. I am visiting UCSB from 20th-26th May and Prof. Roope suggested
that I also try to visit you to see some of your group's research.  

Do you think it would be possible to come visit the you in May. I am also
planning to visit Asst. Prof. Visell and I would really appreciate it if it
would be possible to meet you again and visit your lab.
