Dear All,

On Friday Aug 23 at 1pm in Elings 2003 I will be hosting a discussion, demo, and Q&A with a colleague of ours, Sven Topp.  Sven is grad student and deafblind researcher who is working on accessible technologies with one of my colleagues in France.  Sven is also the president of the Australian Deafblind Council.

Sven and his collaborators are developing the HaptiComm haptic device for deafblind communication.  The device communicates by haptically reproducing elements of tactile sign language.  Here is a video from testing the device from earlier this year:

All are welcome to join.  Please share this info with others if you think they may be interested.  I think we will be ok in the small conference room, but if there is overwhelming interest I could move it to a larger space.

If you are interested in meeting individually with Sven during his visit, please let me know.  He will be here on the afternoon of Thursday Aug 22 and all day on Friday Aug 23.
