Dear Invited Speakers,
We currently have 62 applicants for the Winter School (29 Israelis, 33
international from over 15 countries). This is close to our target numbers
but we want to attract the very best students so I would appreciate if you
could forward the call (below) to more mailing lists for a final push.
I also want to take this opportunity to congratulation Takeo for winning
the 2016 Kyoto Prize. Well deserved!
Yair
Call for Participation: Winter School in Computer Science and Engineering
on Computer Vision
We are soliciting graduate student and postdoc applications for a First
Winter School in Computer Science and Engineering on Computer Vision at the
Israeli Institute for Advanced Studies (IIAS) to be held January 8 to
January 12, 2017.
The CSE Winter School is a new adventure for the IIAS. We have been
organizing annual Advanced Schools in Mathematics, Theoretical Physics,
Economic Theory, Life Science and the Humanities for more than thirty
years. Typically directed by Nobel laureates or Fields Medalists, they have
achieved international recognition and consistently attract the top
students and postdoctoral scholars worldwide to Jerusalem. Consistent with
this tradition, the general director is Michael Rabin, a Turing laureate,
the Winter School in Computer Vision will be directed by Prof. Takeo Kanade
with Prof. Yair Weiss and Prof. Alyosha Efros serving as co-directors.
The confirmed speakers are:
Takeo Kanade, (Carnegie Mellon University)
Alexei (Aloysha) Efros, (UC Berkeley)
Yair Weiss, (The Hebrew University)
Jitendra Malik, UC Berkeley
