I hope you’re doing well. I’m writing to you to appraise you of an exciting project in end-to-end Virtual Reality (content creation, streaming and head mounted displays) in Qualcomm R&D that we’re hiring for. We have roles in both the US (San Diego) as well as India (Bangalore). I’d appreciate very much if you could share the details below with your students and others at the University.
Title: Computer Vision and Image Processing – Algorithms / Systems Engineer
Role: We are seeking an experienced hands-on algorithms / systems engineer to work on the design of innovative solutions in the area of computer vision, 3D video and immersive multimedia.
Responsibilities: Architecting, developing and optimizing computer vision algorithms, 3D depth algorithms, and image processing algorithms to solve computer vision and image processing problems of interest. Delivering optimized C/C++ algorithms to the solutions team. Working with the solutions team to integrate and ensure correct functionality and optimized performance of your algorithm in the system. Supporting the commercialization of the solutions based on your algorithms.
Skills/Experience: Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Solid knowledge and experience in the design and implementation of computer vision, image and video processing algorithms in Matlab and C/C++ is a must Strong background and fundamentals in digital image & signal processing as well as formal background in computer vision is necessary. Firm grasp on embedded computer architecture – including ARM processors, image and video processing hardware, and memory organization expected. Background on GPU architecture and Graphics pipeline. Sensor data analysis and modeling. Strong programming skills and experience required.
Title: Computer Vision and Image Processing – Software Engineer
Role: We are seeking an experienced hands-on software engineer to work on the design and prototyping of innovative solutions in the area of computer vision, 3D video and immersive multimedia.
Responsibilities: Design and development of key features in the area of multimedia streaming, computer vision and virtual reality. Working at all layers of the multimedia software stack, exploring and prototyping novel architecture and system techniques. Working closely with the system and software team to prototype new features, develop frameworks/SDKs, ensure correct functionality, and optimize for power/performance.
Skills/Experience: Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Good understanding of computer architecture and operating systems. Multimedia software development experience on Android, Windows or Linux. Experience with DirectX/OpenGL/OpenCL/Vulkan API. Experience with GPU optimization, advanced rendering, and latency optimizations and ability to identify and isolate performance issues in graphics applications. Firm grasp on embedded computer architecture – including ARM processors, image and video processing hardware, and memory organization expected. Strong programming skills and experience required.
