Software Startup Seeking R&D Software Engineers


We are a young startup commercializing cutting-edge research on Augmented
Reality for remote collaboration, originally conducted at UC Santa Barbara.
We have recently received a highly competitive startup grant from NSF to
support commercial R&D and are looking for talented engineers/researchers to
join our team, initially as part-time positions. Positions are available
immediately; exact start date and working arrangements are flexible.

We offer:


*         Competitive salary

*         Flexibility regarding percentage (between 10-30 hours/week) and
duration (minimum 3 months, ideally 6 months)

Job description:


*         Research & development in real-time computer vision,
human-computer interaction, and/or networking/systems

*         Implementation and testing of algorithms in these areas


Required:


*         BA/BS in Computer Science or related field

*         Strong background in computer vision or computer networking

*         Strong programming skills (C++ required, Java a plus)

*         Ability to work independently and responsibly and communicate
proactively

*         Enthusiasm and some entrepreneurial spirit!


Good to have:


*         MS in Computer Science or related field or relevant industry
experience

*         Experience with real-time computer vision, in particular SLAM

*         Experience with git, Android, Augmented Reality, network
programming, VoIP, multimedia streaming, OpenGL ES 2.0, image-based
rendering, and/or ARM assembly


The founding team you'd work with:


*         Dr. Steffen Gauglitz (co-founder and CTO) received his Ph.D. in
Computer Science from UCSB. His dissertation work on interactive remote
collaboration, which has received several awards at UCSB and at top-tier
international conferences, forms the foundation upon which Caugnate was
conceived. Steffen has worked at WorldViz, a leader in turnkey Virtual
Reality solutions, at Qualcomm, and at Google.

*         Dr. Matthew Turk (co-founder and CEO) holds a Ph.D. from MIT and
has extensive experience in both industry and academia, including an
aerospace company, a Silicon Valley startup, Microsoft Research, and UCSB,
where he co-directs the Four Eyes Lab (currently on leave from the
university to focus on Caugnate). His works have received more than 24,000
citations.
