The Exploratory Computer Vision Department (http://www.research.ibm.com/ecvg) at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, home of breakthrough offerings such as the IBM Smart Vision Suite (SVS),  is seeking outstanding and enthusiastic researchers, with background in machine learning and computer vision, to work on developing image/video understanding technologies for practical and novel public safety applications.  We expect the candidates to be strong in conducting cutting edge research, and also passionate about turning research into high impact products and services. We encourage researchers to establish leadership in the research community, and maintain active research collaborations with top universities in the US.

In recent years, the team has achieved top performances in various prestigious challenges and evaluations, including NIST TRECVID 2012. Several technologies based on the team’s technology have been featured in popular news media like Wired, ABC and Fox news. We are seeking top talents to further enhance the team.

Required Skills or Experiences: 
- PhD in Computer Science (or equivalent) 
- Strong publications in top machine learning or computer vision conferences & journals 
- Strong experience with tracking
- Solid knowledge in math, optimization, and statistical inference 
- Great problem solving skills, with a strong desire for quality and engineering excellence 
- Expert knowledge developing and debugging in C/C++

Desired Skills as a Plus: 
- Experience with image classification, object recognition, or visual scene parsing 
- Hands-on experience in implementing large-scale learning algorithms and systems 
- Experience with Medical Image processing 
- Good knowledge developing and debugging on Windows 
- Experience with real-time computer vision systems
