Greeting everybody,

I have invited Jeff Lait, the senior mathematician at Side Effects
Software, to give an informal talk on using Houdini in research in
Elings 2003 at 2 PM tomorrow (Thursday).

For those not familiar with Houdini, it is a competitive product to
Maya, and has (in my opinion) superior simulation tools, including a
fluid simulator, rigid body solver, cloth solver, and destructible
physics solver. We're already using their fluid simulator in our most
current research. Their renderer, Manta, won a Scitech Oscar last
year.

This won't be a sales pitch -- all the features of Houdini are
available in its free version, including geometry and simulation data
import/export, and their software development kit, HDK. The only
drawback is that the renders are watermarked.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hope to see you there!
Ted
