We have two position openings at Honda Research Instituted USA (Mountain
View, California).

[Computer Vision Research Engineer (Job Number: P11F03)]
Candidate will be involved in research and development of
a visual mapping system for use on vehicles in regular traffic situations.
The ideal candidate would be a highly self-motivated individual who is
enthused by the practical aspects of getting the system to work
in addition to the research aspects. Candidate responsibilities will
include understanding and extending the existing software,
managing the system on a test car, and closely collaborating
with other researchers involved in the project.
The candidate should have a solid background in C/C++ programming and
good knowledge of SLAM/SfM/3D reconstruction in computer vision and
sensor fusion involving IMU and GPS data. Knowledge of GPU programming
is a significant plus. Candidates should have a Masters degree or
higher and/or demonstrate an exceptional track record in previous
related work experience.
[Spoken Dialog Researcher (Job Number: P11F04)]
Spoken Dialog Group at Honda Research Institute conducts research
on next generation in-car spoken interfaces. Our approach is based on
probabilistic methods of speech understanding, belief tracking and dialog
management. We are looking to hire a researcher to complement our efforts in
these areas.
The selected candidate will be responsible for research, design and
implementation of spoken and multimodal dialog systems.
The applicant will have a strong background in one or more of the following
areas:
Natural Language Understanding, Speech Processing, Machine Learning,
Probabilistic Reasoning, Multimodal Interaction.
Knowledge of Java, and/or C++ is required. Candidates will be expected to
design novel ideas, and implement and communicate their work for
demonstration
and research publication. Candidates should have a PhD degree with
a demonstrated exceptional track record in previous related work experience.
These are 3-year positions with a possibility of further extensions or
transition to a permanent position at the company discretion.
