I also hadn't heard of it, but I just found the paper:
http://people.csail.mit.edu/jrk/halide12/ . I worked with Andrew Adams
on the Frankencamera project, he was one of the main architects. As
far as I know he moved to MIT as a postdoc with Fredo Durand after his
PhD.
