We're looking for summer interns at taaz, and I'm wondering if there are any
UCSB students that you'd recommend.

Taaz Inc., a San Diego based startup, is looking for summer interns in
Computer Vision / Computer Graphics. Over a three-month period, you will
work with an outstanding group of computer vision researchers to add new
capabilities to the world's best virtual try-on technology. As part of the
internship, you will develop and implement highly optimized cutting edge
vision and graphics algorithms. The exact research problem will be based on
your skill set. 

 

In a fast paced startup like Taaz, the features you develop over summer may
be used by millions of users by fall. Work environment is fun and very
intense. 

 

A side benefit of working at Taaz is living in the beautiful city of San
Diego. Our office is a 10 minute drive from the beach and glider port. San
Diego has a pleasant weather throughout the year and there are a ton of fun
things (surfing, gliding, hiking, jet skiing to name a few) to do in and
around the city. 

 

 

Research Experience

Must be enrolled in an MS or a Ph.D. program in Computer Science/Electrical
Engineering/Mathematics or similar disciplines with emphasis on Computer
Vision. Experience in image based modeling and rendering, computational
photography, automatic image enhancement, and automatic facial feature
enhancement is a big plus. Experience in Computer Graphics and Machine
Learning are desired but not required. Publications in CVPR, ICCV, ECCV,
NIPS, SIGGRAPH, ICML or similar conferences will greatly improve your
chances of being selected. 

 

Programming Experience

As part of the internship you would need to read research papers and
implement the algorithms optimized for speed and efficiency. The candidate
must have a strong programming experience (preferably in C++) and would need
to quickly learn new languages (e.g. ActionScript). Excellent command over
MATLAB is desired. Familiarity with libraries like OpenCV, BLAS/ATLAS, GSL
etc. would be very useful.
