[4eyes] ERC visit

Four Eyes Lab students,

 

As you know, the External Review Committee for the CS program review is
visiting over the next few days - three distinguished CS faculty who, to
some degree, hold the future of the department in their hands. Well, maybe
that's an overstatement, but the UCSB administration will certainly pay
close attention to what they have to say, so their impressions really do
matter. Please show up for the scheduled meeting with them on Thursday if
you possibly can. It will be good for us to have most or all of the lab
graduate students there.

 

Of course, you should discuss whatever you want and express any opinions you
wish. We want them to get an accurate view of the department. We do hope
you'll represent the Four Eyes Lab proudly. You may want to raise the
situation of our non-contiguous lab space spread over two locations and
separate from the CS building - something that doesn't seem likely to change
in the short run, but we want to be clear it's not the long-term ideal.

 

Anyway, thanks in advance for your participation with the committee.
