Dear Professor, 

We are looking for  candidates for several short-term positions 
 (3~6 months interns, contractors) in the following areas for this winter. 
I would appreciate very much if you could pass this information to 
prospective candidates.   


---- Positions available ----------------- 

Position 1 (Visual Navigation):   
The work involves research and development of 
vision, path planning and control algorithms for autonomous vehicles. 
As a test platform the candidate will be using an electric, 4-wheeled vehicle 
which is capable of driving fully autonomously. The candidate's 
main responsibility will be to maintain and extend existing software and 
hardware modules on this test platform. Desirable capabilities include: 

        • Experience in hardware/software design for autonomous mobile robots, specifically for non-holonomic systems 
        • Experience in low-level programming/programming of microcontrollers 
        • Background in robotics/computer vision 
        • Proficiency in C++ programming 

Position 2 (VSLAM):     
        • Experience in feature based tracking and visual odometry 
        • Proficiency in C++ programming 
                
Position 3 (Augmented reality): 
        • Familiarity in interaction design, rapid prototyping, tangible interfaces, 
              multi-modal interfaces, intelligent interfaces 
        • Experience in programming micro-controllers (e.g., Arduino) 
        • Experience in designing mechanical parts (SolidWorks, Rhino 3D familiarity) 
        • Proficiency in C++ programming 

Position 4 (Spoken dialog system): 
        • Experience in machine learning 
        • Experience in speech and natural language processing 
        • Experience with Java 

Position 5 (Machine learning): 
        • Familiarity with reinforcement learning or apprenticeship learning 
        • Background in simulation/numerical optimization 
        • Experience with vehicle or traffic simulations is useful but not necessary 
        
        

For all positions, a minimum of a B.S. degree in Computer Science and Engineering or 
equivalent experience is required. MS and PhD students are encouraged to apply.
