a background in computer vision and video surveillance.  UTRC is the
corporate research center for United Technologies <http://www.utc.com/>  and
is located in East Hartford, Connecticut (U.S.), and also operates research
and development centers in Berkeley, California, Shanghai, China, and Cork,
Ireland. 

The opening is in East Hartford and the candidate will be working  on
projects funded by Cooperate (eg. IRAD), business units such as UTC Fire and
Security and government funded contracts.

Job Responsibilities        

 

United Technologies Corporation, a Fortune top 50 company is a dynamic

The Systems department at the United Technologies Research Center has an
opening position in the area of Computer Vision and Video Surveillance at
the entry-level of Senior (L6) scientist. The candidate must be able to work
effectively in a multidisciplinary, multinational team environment focused
on innovation and be able to partner with leading, worldwide institutions
(university, government agencies, national labs, and professional
organizations) to meet organizational objectives. 

 

Education        

Required: M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering,
Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of
industrial or academic experience (post M.S.). 

 

Preferred: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering,
Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. 

 

Experience/Qualifications        

- Expert knowledge in at least three of the following fields: object
detection and tracking, object recognition, activity and event recognition,
content-based indexing and retrieval, machine learning (particularly
large-scale graphical models). 

- Strong background in machine learning/mathematics. 

- Strong record of technical contributions with publications in refereed
technical journals and major conferences in computer vision. 

- Outstanding programming skills using Matlab or C/C++. 

- Excellent communication and leadership skills; innovative strategic and
technical thinker; high energy; team player.
