Subject: [Cogsci-faculty] Sage Lecture: Pawan Sinhja Sept. 23
Hi all,
The first Sage Center for the Study of the Mind lecture of the Fall
term will occur this Thursday, September 23rd at 4:00 pm.
Title: "Learning to See"
Pawan Sinha is an Associate Professor of Vision and Computational
Neuroscience, Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences, at MIT. He
investigates how visual recognition proceeds, including the
computational principles that underlie our impressive recognition
abilities. His research laboratory focuses on this issue using a
combination of experimental and computational modeling techniques. The
two specific questions that the lab is currently exploring concern the
nature of the object representations in the brain and how object
representations can be learned from visual experience.
Where: Mosher Alumni House, 2nd floor
If you would like to meet with Pawan, please contact Matthew Turk
(mturk at cs.ucsb.edu
) and indicate your availability through 4:00pm that day.
