I am writing to you because I am still hiring and I was wondering if you had
any good students that might be interested in experiencing a top research
lab in Europe (Barcelona). I have positions for interns, postdocs,
researchers and visiting professors.

 

The key areas that we are interested in are (I highlight the ones where I
have the biggest need right now):

 

1.       Multimedia data analysis, search and retrieval

2.      Recommendation systems

3.       Mobile computing: multimedia in mobile phones, context-aware mobile
computing, wearable physiological monitoring

4.       Multimodal human computer interaction, activity/gesture/emotion
recognition, multi-display interaction, surface computing

5.       3D: 3D interaction, 3D scene reconstruction, 3D telepresence, etc..

I don't have any students who are at the right point now to do this, but
I'll keep it in mind. I'd love to come and visit sometime.

Hi Matt!

I hope that everything is going well in Santa Barbara. I am writing to you
because I have just moved to Spain to work in a new research lab in
Barcelona (the same lab as Xavier Amatriain). I am going to lead a small
research group to work on Multimedia Data Analysis and Search, Multimodal
Systems, Mobility and HCI. I have openings for internship/postdoc and
research positions. I was wondering if you had any good students who would
be interested in coming to Barcelona for a 3 month internship and some good
graduating students to come for postdoc or researcher positions. 

Of course, if you happen to come to Europe, let me know as it would be great
to host you at the lab.
