All,

Thank you for expressing an interest in participating in the USENIX
Security Grand Challenge Competition Unhackable Servers.

I'd like to provide you an update with forthcoming information.

1. Prize money:
There is a $10,000 purse for prize winners and participants sponsored
by BAE Systems to be awarded in the following ways:
$5000 1st place
$2000 2nd place
$1000 3rd place
and participation prizes. The judges decisions are final and checks
will be issued to winners after the event is concluded by USENIX.

2. Location:
As you know the competition will be held August 12-13 at USENIX
Security in Montreal, CA. See http://www.usenix.org/events/sec09/ for
site information and logistics.

3. Registration:
We will be formally registering teams on the USENIX Security web site
( http://www.usenix.org/events/sec09/ ). I'm told by USENIX that the
Challenge Competition registration page will be up for online
registration Monday July 27th and will closed Monday August 3rd. So
you will need to register during that time or you will have to
register on site.

You can either register for the Competition only at a cost of $100.00
(US) per person on-site or if you register for the USENIX Security
Conference you also gain access to the Competition. If you register
for the conference you can use our discount code SEC09CTF to get a
discount on conference registration.

4. Student Travel Grants
We have significant student travel grants available for students that
are participating on site at the conference. Request for support must
be sent via email to grand-challenge at cs.ucsb.edu. The request must
come from the faculty advisor of the student and must include the CV
of the student, the name of the competing team, and the name of the
University. Requests for financial support represent a committment to
participate in the competition with a system.

5. Web site updates
Please visit the Challenge Competition Web site for updates http://www.securitygrandchallenge.org
  .

We anticipate this event will receive media coverage and is a great
opportunity to show off your best stuff.

Thanks again for your interest and I look forward to meeting you in
Montreal. Stay tuned for updates.

Best,

Anup K. Ghosh
